1. Fog Test
The fog test is a quick and simple way to assess a diamond's authenticity. Breathe gently on the stone to create a fog. If the fog disappears almost immediately, the diamond is likely real. If the fog lingers for several seconds, the stone may be a fake.
2. Water Test
The water test is another easy method to determine if your diamond is genuine. Fill a dish with water and drop the diamond into it. If the diamond sinks quickly to the bottom, it is real, as diamonds are dense and heavy. A floating stone indicates that it is likely a counterfeit, as most non-diamonds have a lower density.
3. Reflection Test
For this test, hold your diamond above a bright light source and observe its reflection. A true diamond will reflect both white and colored light, creating a brilliant sparkle.
